Steve
Redford was born in 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in the
suburbs thereof, where he played a lot of football and ran track. He
majored in English at Furman University, graduating Summa Cum Laude,
then went on to get graduate degrees in English/Creative Writing
from the University of Georgia, and Advanced Japanese Studies from
the University of Sheffield. In 1992, he won first prize in the
Agnes Scott Short Story Writing Contest, judged by then Poet
Laureate, Rita Dove, and in 1995, first prize in the Snake Nation
Press contest. He first taught in Japan in 1988, and is
currently a Professor of American literature at Shizuoka University.
His first novel, Along the Same Street, was published in
2013, and his second, When a Sissy Climbs a Mountain in May, is
due out June, 2019. He is an avid hiker, enjoys taking nature
photographs, and sometimes plays the ukulele. His view of the world
is absolutely non-dualistic. |
