For those of you on the out, a common version of Taro Urashima’s tale goes something like this: He is fishing by the sea one day when he saves a turtle from some young boys’ cruelty. The turtle rewards him with a trip to a magical kingdom at the bottom of the sea. After a while, he begins to long for home, but when he gets back, everything he’s ever known has passed away.
