We Hearty Hikers suspected that it might still be a little early for the <em>shiroyashio<\/em> (the <em>WHITE yashio<\/em>) to be blooming, but thinking it was better to be early than late, we drove up to Umegashima and climbed the first half of the trail up Mt. Hakkorei.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3129\" src=\"http:\/\/persimmon-dreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/160508_curved_ridge_600.jpg\" alt=\"160508_curved_ridge_600\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/persimmon-dreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/160508_curved_ridge_600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/persimmon-dreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/160508_curved_ridge_600-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went up as high as the\u00a0Fujimidai lookout, then crossed the ridge to Abe Toge (the Abe Pass), then walked back down along the Sakasa River to where we started.
