All pictures from the last few weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And for better or worse, what&#8217;s in my mind right now is one of the books I&#8217;m teaching, Kurt Vonnegut&#8217;s <em>Cat&#8217;s Cradle<\/em>, which among other things asks us to ponder where truth is most likely to be found&#8212;in religion, in science, in both, or in neither.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"http:\/\/persimmon-dreams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/201118_egret_SHARP_600.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5498\"\/><figcaption>Alert egret<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>School failed me, and I failed the school. It bored me. The teachers behaved like <em>Feldwebel <\/em>(sergeants). I wanted to learn what I wanted to know, but they wanted me to learn for the exam. What I hated most was the competitive system there, and especially sports. Reading Kant, I began to suspect everything I was taught.
